Referees will normally only be contacted when a client requests it. This generally occurs when a client has decided their preferred candidate for the position and an offer has been made and verbally accepted. Brainhunters provides detailed/thorough written reference checks to our Clients and we usually prefer that our candidates provide three referees – two direct managers and a supplier or peer. If you do not wish your referees to be contacted without your approval or before you have a chance to contact them, do NOT include them on your CV and state "Referees will be supplied upon request". This ensures confidentiality and privacy and you keep control of your reference checks.
The easiest way to obtain a 457 visa is to transfer with your existing employer to their Australian office, if this is not an option then try to leverage your experience by applying for jobs with companies in Australia to whom your skills would be valuable. Over the past few years many companies have realised that assisting quality candidates with the exact experience they are seeking to obtain a 457 visa can be very beneficial. Brainhunters is happy to discuss options and provide information to candidates on obtaining a 457 working visa, however in our experience it is often easier to obtain a visa with an employer's assistance & approval to do so after a candidate has applied & secured an offer.
You need to tailor your CV and letter of application to the job for which you are applying. One letter and the same CV is unlikely to be suitable to every position you apply for. You need to address your letter to the specific company requirements and marry your experience to the job specifics. Don't make a recruiter or employer 'hunt' through your CV for the information they are looking for – make it easy for them by highlighting the skills that you have in reference to the specific job requirements. See CVs and Resumes for more information on preparing your CV.
Yes, as long as you articulate why you would be suitable for the position for which you are applying. Outline the qualities and experience you have and your achievements, and specify why these would make you successful at a role that is a level higher than the position you currently hold.

Once you are a registered candidate with BrainHunters, we are aware of your requirements and keep you top of mind for all roles with the assistance of our CRM software and Research Manager. Brainhunters does not just contact you when there is a specific job that could be right for you, if we know one of our candidates has skills/experience that will be of value to one of our Clients we will market that candidate (never without prior discussion with you) to our Client even if they are not actively recruiting. Many of our roles are advertised using online job sites, but not all, so unless you are registered with us or frequently visiting our website, there are some roles you will not hear about.
